Introduction

Climate Conversations: Art Institutions & Resilience is a half-day convening focused on driving environmental responsibility across the visual arts sector. Hosted at The Museum of Modern Art and presented by Gallery Climate Coalition, the Helen Frankenthaler Foundation, and the Teiger Foundation, the event brings together a group of industry leaders for a morning of case studies, discussions, and critical reflection.

This program is designed to move beyond broad inspiration and into the realities of implementation—spotlighting institutional efforts to embed environmental sustainability into core practice. Through candid case studies and panel discussions, the event will explore how institutions of all sizes are navigating the challenges of resilience, resource management, and cultural transformation. Contributions will come from museums, galleries, artists, and coalitions, sharing both successes and setbacks.

The aim is to foster grounded, cross-sector dialogue, emphasizing collaboration, transparency, and accountability as essential tools for systemic change. By connecting climate adaptation with practical strategy, organizational values, and collective care, this gathering sets the stage for stronger alignment and action across the field.
